Hi, I'm Melanie.

I was born and raised in Kingston, and have ended up settling in Ottawa after a few lengthy stops in India, Malawi, Mexico, Sudan, South Sudan and Sierra Leone along the way. I travel a lot, for work and for pleasure, and I've had the privilege of seeing life lived in 46 different countries around the world. I play drums in a cover band (you haven't heard of us...yet), I ski in the winter and cycle in the summer, and I volunteer my time and talents to causes that I believe in.

In my day job, I work for an organization that investigates and documents human rights abuses around the world. We uncover the worst of the worst of humanity. Photography brings a balance. Through my photos I seek to document people experiencing joy; and preserve moments and events that bring much needed positivity to the world.
